Armory Arts Week filled Manhattan with art fairs and their patrons over the weekend. Centered around the Armory Show with an additional eight satellite fairs, there is truly something for everyone in every part of Manhattan. In addition to parallel fairs Art on Paper, Collective Design, Independent, Moving Image Art Fair, NADA, Scope, Spring/Break Art Show and Volta NY, museums and galleries held special events and openings. Works of art from masters of Modernism to emerging artists had offerings in every price range, bringing a full roster to Manhattan.
The 30th annual London Art Fair, opening this weekend, promises to be an unforgettable experience. It’s the most international LAF yet, with galleries from across five continents, and 131 exhibitors. Presenting leading British and international galleries alongside curated spaces Art Projects and Photo50, the LAF showcases renowned 20th and 21st Century artists.
It’s always hip to be an outsider, especially when we’re talking about art. So, mark your calendars for the Outsider Art Fair (OAF) which returns to New York City for the 26th year in a row from January 19th through the 21st. This year the OAF welcomes artists from all walks of life to submit a piece or two to the Fair.
A world class art fair, the second annual Palm Beach Modern+Contemporary Art Fair gathers over fifty international galleries offering exceptional contemporary and Post-War artwork. This five day fair opens Thursday, January 11th, with a VIP Preview benefiting The Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society​, The Joe Namath Neurological Research Center and the Ann Norton Sculpture Garden​. Musical events and retrospectives of contemporary artists add to the appeal, including a showcase of animal sculptures by paper artist Chie Hitotsuyama.
Celebrating leading designers and visual artists, the fifth annual FOG Design+Art Fair runs January 11–14, 2018, at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco. A Preview Gala Wednesday, January 10, 2018, benefits the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA). The January 11th Innovators Luncheon, supported by FENDI, honors renowned chef Alice Waters, founder and owner of Chez Panisse.
Opening to the public today in Miami Beach, Art Basel is one of the largest and most anticipated art fairs in the US. A giant party combining high-stakes networking and a sales events, art stars are made at Art Basel (or at least they hope to be).
This weekend marks the premier of a new large art fair in Düsseldorf, Germany. Open November 16th - 19th and in its first year, Art Düsseldorf seeks to establish itself as “a new and innovative platform for collectors, gallerists and curators.” Over 75 galleries will have spaces in a recently converted former factory complex called  Areal Böhler. Sixty percent of the galleries present are German, and the fair designated specific spaces for young galleries.
Paris Photo opens this weekend for the 21st year. Running November 9th through the 12th at the Grand Palais, Paris Photo is the premier international art fair devoted to photography. Over 150 galleries and publishers will be exhibiting, with accompanying lectures, conversations, and book signings. This year, the fair debuts a new exhibition of film and video art.
Artissima Contemporary Art Fair opens this week in Torino, Italy. In its 24th year showcasing contemporary art, the fair packs a lot in from November 3-5. Featuring 2,000 works represented by galleries from 31 countries, Artissima is hosted at the Torino Oval Lingotto, originally built to host the 2006 Winter Olympics. Artissima values experimentation and research, bringing together artists, gallerists, collectors, and curators from across the European continent and beyond.
